Aquarium & World of Coke

My mother took us on a trip to the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coke in early March.

Rob and I went to the aquarium on a date back when it first opened. Because of the large crowd, it wasn’t as fun as it could have been. This time we went on a school day, just after opening. There was no line and Xander was able to look at anything for as long as he wanted.

Even Arya was having a great time!

The whales. Xander could have stayed here all day.

The next stop was the World of Coke. I had never been in the new one before, and after our visit I agree with other Atlantans that the old World of Coke was much better. Xander still enjoyed meeting the “teddy bear” and getting to try so many different cokes.

And because I am the Mother of the Year, I finished up the tasting with some Beverly. Just a little bit.

He took a second to think about what he’d just tasted…but he finished it anyway.
I let him wash it down with something sweet.

Stone Mountain

On our visit to Georgia, we took a trip to Stone Mountain with Gram and Aunt Kimberly. We had a picnic, took a short walk, and rode to the top of the mountain in the sky ride. Xander had a lot of fun!

(I forgot to take my camera out of the car, so excuse the cell phone quality.)

Catching Up

A lot has happened since I last updated this thing. I’m going to try and catch up over the next week or so.

In late February, I took a trip to Georgia with the kids. Xander and I each had $100 Delta vouchers from our last ( extremely delayed and altogether miserable) plane trip. They were going to expire soon so I had to use them. Because Arya flies for free, the round trip tickets ended up costing 99 dollars…total!

I was quite nervous about flying with a two-year-old and a 5-month-old, and they must have sensed it because they were both on their very best behavior the entire time. We had a great travel experience!

Anniversary Getaway

Rob’s best friend got married this weekend so we took the family on a road trip to Chattanooga, Tennessee. We decided to go to Georgia while we were nearby and squeeze in as many visits as we could.

Since Friday morning we have driven from Paragould to Chattanooga, attended wedding events, hung out with Rob’s sister, driven to Kennesaw to visit my family, gone to Athens to drop off the kids with Rob’s family, and gone on an anniversary trip to Helen. Today we head back to Athens for an early Christmas with the Schumanns, and tomorrow we go back to Arkansas.

We didn’t originally plan for all this, but I’m glad we did. It has been nice to see family and friends, but I’m especially glad for our Helen getaway. Rob and I do a lot together at church and with raising the kids, but there is no substitute for time alone with one another.

After the museum, we walked across the street to Centennial Park and watched Xander play in the olympic rings. He got so soaked, he had to drive back to my parents’ with just a diaper on.

On Memorial Day, my parents threw a big party for my sister who just finished medical school. Alas, I have no pictures from the evening. But it was very, very fun.

The next day, we got back in the car to spend some family time in Savannah and Tybee Island. Here are some photos from our days at the beach…

We also did some touristy things, including a walk along River Street which proved to be too much for Xander and resulted in a long afternoon nap.
